『 Once upon a time Martians and Venusians met, fell in love, and had happy relationships together because they respected and accepted their differences. Then they came to Earth and amnesia set in: they forgot they were from different planets. 』

Yes, I know... Finally I've read this book. Some of you could have remembered my reaction against this book a long time ago. When this book came out, I convinced myself that "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus" was just another empty-headed, catchily-titled crap. I had almost pity on the people who bought and read this book. What a commercially abused, poor lamb! But here I am practically amounting to a confession of my own ignorance and narrow-minded outlook.

In this book, John Gray shares fascinating insights into the disparate emotional lives of men and women. He focuses on the differences between men and women and offers a simple solution: couples must acknowledge and accept these differences for developing happier relationships.

Men occasionally need to retreat to their caves. Women's moods oscillate for no particular reason, putting them in a well. Men are like rubber bands, and women are like wave. Whatever the truth to these assertions, the main message is clear enough. When a man understands how different the female emotional experience is from his own, he might stop expecting her to react as he would, giving her the kind of love and support she really needs. And vice versa.

Some of his overstated examples made me laugh because they were so over the top. And some of my personalities are actually much like those from Mars. The bottom line here, though, is that there are 4 seasons of love. To keep the magic of love alive we must understand its seasons and nurture love' s special needs.
